About
Hi! I’m Sam.
I began my counselling training knowing that I wanted to go into Private Practice. I craved independence from a fixed employer so that I could have a different approach to life but I also knew that I needed a sustainable income if I was to take the leap from employed to self-employed.
Four years after qualifying, for my masters degree in counselling and psychotherapy, I decided to research whether other therapists felt that their counselling qualification had prepared them for private practice. This was because it was the question that I had following my own endeavours into working for myself, but also because of the number of people who were approaching me for clinical supervision for help to do the same. The findings in that research prompted this course.
Now, research is showing that private practice is essential for viably working as a private practitioners, potentially providing another income stream to other sessional or part time work (Therapy Today 2023).
